Camp of the True Queen, Glacia, Saturday Evening (Fandom Time)

After doing her rounds of the camp to see if anyone needed any healing or help she could offer, Raven retired to her tent. It was a little lonely now, since she'd shared it with Dinah and Momoko before they'd left to take care of tasks elsewhere, but she was used to solitude.

She settled in with the book she was reading, the second in something called "The Raven Cycle." How could she resist a title like that?

Luckily Momoko healed about one and a half times faster than normal people, or Jaime would never have let her go. But she'd argued and cried and argued even more, and eventually only the promise of getting a portal RIGHT outside Karla's camp and going straight for healing had convinced him.

It had taken a lot more to convince him he wasn't needed to CARRY her there.

But here she was and she was totally not going to report in first. She didn't want to be yelled at while still in pain! So she was heading straight to Raven's tent and hoping maybe the zucchini bread in her bag could bribe her friend into not telling Karla just how badly she'd been hurt... And that Raven wasn't asleep. What time was it here, now?

Raven glanced up from her book. "Momoko, I did not know you were -- you are hurt! What happened?"

She dropped her book and hurried to Momoko's side, gently guiding her to the chair she'd just vacated so she could take stock of her injuries.

"Shhh!" Momoko slowly raised a finger to her lips, looking to make sure no one else heard. "I had an assignment back in my world. Well, my new one. El Paso? Except we were actually in Mexico, most of the time..."

She shook her head, wincing. "There was a robot and Dinah and I stole it? Only it exploded and I got caught in the blast."

"Is Dinah all right?" Raven asked, mistakenly thinking Momoko meant the Dinah she knew.

She knelt down beside the chair, taking Momoko's hands in her own. Her injuries were bad, but nothing she couldn't heal.

Momoko wasn't thinking clearly or she'd have picked that up, sorry.

"For someone as old as she is, she's totally tough. Apparently Jaime caught her when I dumped her out of the helicopter and then she parachuted to the ground. I'm totally never going to go on an assignment with her again."

How much pain she was still in was probably evident in the way she didn't try to argue Raven out of any healing or put conditions on her. "Ah. They gave me pain medicine at the lab, is that going to be a problem?"

Raven shook her head. "No, it should not be," she said. She'd absorb it into herself along with the injuries. She was a little concerned about what Momoko was saying about Dinah, though. Had this experience damaged their friendship somehow? The thought was very troubling.

"Just sit still, and you will be fine in a few moments," she said, closing her eyes and drawing Momoko's wounds into herself. She stiffened and sucked in a breath as the pain hit her.

Momoko hissed herself for a moment, Raven's touch causing a slight flare of pain before actually removing it.

Finally her mind was clear enough that she realized Raven was in pain. "Hey, stop if you need, okay? I'll totally take the lecture and go to the healers for the rest if you're in pain."

"This is the price I pay for my gifts, and you know I pay it willingly," Raven said, voice tight as she tried to keep the pain out of it. "Any discomfort will quickly pass."

No, Momoko, she wasn't letting go until she was completely healed.

"But is it worse because of the poison?" Momoko worried hard but wasn't going to struggle. She was totally going to add this to the next lecture she gave to her friend, though!

...

Maybe. Because it totally felt good to have the pain finally fully leave her body.

Dinah was back at the Queen's Camp, thanks to needing to put in her formal notice and get her orders for going to only part-time in a few days. School was calling her name. Sam had come with her, driving the Coach on the Winds, so she could pick up mail from her daughters.

"Hey. Whatcha up to?"

"Hello, Dinah, it is nice to see you as yourself again," Raven said, closing her book.

"I am merely relaxing." And putting Momoko back together.

Dinah flopped down on the floor, smiling slightly. "Wanted to come by and say hi-and-bye, because I'm going back to New Gotham direct from our camp in a couple days. Anything you want me to bring back from there when I come back in ... right, ten days, or so, for you?"

"It is that time already?" Raven said with a sad smile. "I will miss you, but at least you will be back during weekends in your time."

She shrugged a little. "I cannot think of anything that I might want, but I will let you know if I do think of something."

"Yeeeah. School starts on Monday, so..." Dinah sighed. "And it's not like my particular talents are all that needed here, now. We need orators and maybe healers. There hasn't been much fighting. Aside from bar fights, and that's really not as helpful as you might think."

"It is a relief that the fighting has died down," Raven said, nodding. "I hope this will all be over soon."

"Me too." Dinah quirked a smile. "Do you know where you guys will move in, once it's all settled? Somewhere in Sidra, or Karla's old house?"

Raven shook her head. "I do not know," she said. "We have not spoken of it yet. Karla has been busy lately."

And, well, Raven had been keeping a low profile since her emotional display at Yllestad.

"Are you doing okay?" Dinah checked. "I feel like I'm abandoning you guys."

Eeeeep!

Uhm. She meant... "DINAH!!!!" Hug time!!!

Also time to repress the most recent of events and push forward thoughts of giant robots and explosions. Yes. Because this Dinah was telepathic.

"You're late!" Dinah said, then hugged her hard. "Why are you late? Portalocity or something else?"

"I was still on that mission with old!you! Well, I was on Friday. It kind of went horribly wrong."

"What happened?" Dinah demanded, pulling back and looking Momoko over. "Did Old Me forget to duck? Did you forget to duck? Did you guys get arrested? Was there bail?"

Momoko rolled her eyes fondly and succumbed to the examination. "Old!you refused to bail!" Ha! "And I had to dump her out of the helicopter! And then I got stuck and didn't fully escape the explosion."

"Didn't fully-- stuck?" Dinah stared at her, then poked at her side, eyes huge. "You got hurt! Of course other me refused to bail without you! And oh my god, how hurt are we talking?"

"I had to get it as far from the bad guys as possible!" Momoko flailed at her BFF. "It had a missile launcher, Gatling cannons, and energy weapons! And that was just the stuff that was supposed to be on it. Who knows what those crazy Intergang scientists added to the original plans when they stole it. Well, besides apparently a self-destruct."

She eyerolled. "When the explosions started, I headed for some cities instead of the desert in case we needed help. And then I had to make sure I found a spot to explode it where people wouldn't actually get hurt! And, well. You know how Professor Mode kept going on about capes? My jacket did that; totally caught on something."

Please don't notice her skipping over the 'how hurt she got' part...
