Room 509, Monday Evening
Apr. 23rd, 2012 07:29 pmNot having a roommate meant Raven had plenty of room. She was taking advantage of that now, laying out a circle of candles and sweet-smelling incense (frangipani was her favorite) on the floor. It was a daily ritual, and she meant to relax herself and still her mind before watching Rumor Gal tonight. Though, on second thought, since she didn't approve of one of the current plotlines, meditating after might have been a better idea because she'd be irrationally irritated, no doubt.
At least she admitted it was entirely irrational to care about the love lives of fictional characters?

At least she admitted it was entirely irrational to care about the love lives of fictional characters?
Raven | She settled cross-legged in the middle of the circle and closed her eyes, drawing her mind inward, banishing all thoughts of the outside world. It was something she did every day, almost without fail, and it didn't take long for her to sink into a trance and project her mind to the netherverse. But inside her mind, when she opened her eyes -- which were now, oddly, violet instead of blue -- she was standing on a desolate plane with nothing but miles and miles of rock and sand that stretched all the way to the horizon. Here and there lay dried up vegetation or the bleached bones of some long-dead animal, but other than that there was nothing. She felt a chill and wrapped her arms around herself, looking down to realize the black skirt and shirt she'd been wearing were gone. Instead she wore just several strips of dark blue cloth that did little to cover her body. She was barefoot now, and her hair, instead of flowing straight down her back as it normally did, now was in dreadlocks with golden beads. "What...?" she stammered. "Where am I? And what am I wearing?" What in Azar's name was going on? |
![]() Trigon | "Why, Daughter, do you not recognize your home?" a voice said from behind her. "You are in the realm of the great Trigon." Trigon had appeared behind her, seated on a stone throne, but it was a very different Trigon that the one who had threatened Earth a year before. He was still over twenty feet tall, but his body was thin and withered, his clothing shredded. He looked tired and defeated. |
Raven | Raven took quick steps backwards, though Trigon was making no move to rise. "This is just another dream," she said, trying to will herself to wake up. She'd fallen asleep instead of into a trace, and this was another nightmare about her father. It had to be. |
![]() Trigon | "Do you dream of me like this, Daughter?" Trigon said, snorting in contempt. "Or of how I was in my former glory, when worlds fell before me and their people cowered at my feet?" He lifted one hand to gesture around them. "How disappointed you must be now. My realm, what you see here, is the physical extension of my metaphysical being. Desolate." |
Raven | "Because you were defeated," Raven said, trying to sound more confident than afraid. "Because my friends saved Earth and destroyed you. Which we will do again if you attempt to threaten our worlds." |
![]() Trigon | Trigon pushed himself up straighter so that he wasn't slumped in his throne. "You see me as weak," he said. "True, I am one tenth of what I was. That simply makes me a being powerful enough to destroy you, your world, and your universe. I am not done. Nor am I alone." His hand snaked out, grabbing Raven by the throat and lifting her off her feet. |
![]() Raven | The ground opened up, flames rising beneath Raven as she struggled to breath, tearing at Trigon's hand with her own. She tried to teleport, but somehow her father was preventing her. The flames licked at her legs and she screamed. |
![]() Still Raven | Back in Fandom, her body echoed her cry as it rose in the air. The candles began to fly about the room as well, wreathing Raven in flames as she flailed about in mid-air, still unconscious. In her mental landscape, Trigon continued to squeeze, laughing as he cut off her air supply. |

Date: 2012-04-24 12:09 am (UTC)Raven was in distress, that much she could tell. Vanishing the basket of cupcakes she was bringing, she ran down the hall and knocked on Raven's door.
"Raven! Raven!"
When Raven didn't respond and the feelings of distress got bad enough that she knew she had to do something.
She knocked at the door again and when she still didn't answer, Cassidy sighed and then passed through the door.
"RAVEN!"
A floating Raven was not a good thing, nor were the candles flying about the room. The fact that Raven was flailing in the air only started a bit of a panic for Cassidy.
She stepped closer to Raven, and then air walked close to her.
"Raven! Raven, wake up! Please wake up!"
If Raven didn't come back to herself, Cassidy was willing to use whatever she had to in order to wake her friend up.

Date: 2012-04-24 12:14 am (UTC)Trigon tried to make what he was doing seem effortless, though Raven could sense the strain. His mental shielding slipped, and for a brief moment she was able to to enter his mind and scan his thoughts. He'd meant his sons, her half-brothers, when he'd said he wasn't alone, she confirmed, and she was able to glimpse the faces and names of their unfortunate mothers.
A detached part of her mind filed that away while she continued to fight against her father, but his grip, both on her neck and on her soul, was too strong. She couldn't scream anymore, she couldn't breathe. And in Fandom, her struggles began to weaken.

"Raven, please wake up." She placed a hand on Raven's shoulder and shook. When that didn't work, she floated the container of water over to her.
She took a deep breath, and then tilted the water until it was pouring down into her friends face and chest.

Date: 2012-04-24 12:25 am (UTC)The candles all went out at once, clattering to the floor. Raven's eyes flew open and she dropped as well, crashing down even as her hands clutched at her throat and she coughed and gasped for breath.

"Thank you, Cassidy," she said softly. "I do not know what would have happened if you had not been here."
