Room 509, Monday Afternoon

Without classes Monday, Raven kept to her room to study and meditate because that's how she rolled. But where she usually found peace and tranquility was instead a nightmare of horrific images of Fandom and the mainland shattered and destroyed, the people twisted and frozen in stone, silently screaming in agony. And those dearest to her lay dead at her feet, or worse yet, kneeling in servitude to her, their eyes red and empty of any hint of a soul.

And over it all, the sound of her father's laughter.

She snapped out of her trance, shaking with fear, then got up and stumbled over to her dresser to stare at her face in the mirror. She felt a surge of relief that she only had two blue eyes and that there weren't four red ones looking back at her. She had dark circles under those eyes from a lack of restful sleep lately, but that could be easily hidden with makeup. Because she was fine. Really. Things were going well, and she'd just had a bad dream. And the lingering soreness in her right side from healing Jacob and the pain in her neck from healing Sookie was just her imagination, leftover stress from Kaeleer. It would soon pass.

Because she was fine. Really.

"Dating is difficult enough without having to worry about getting attacked," said Hoshi. "But I'm glad that you had a good time. Do you and Jono have plans for the holidays?"

"I do not," Raven said. "I know they are planning a meal on the island, so I will likely visit there. But since it is a holiday devoted to eating, and one that is specific to America, I will have to think of something pleasant to do if Jono is being moody."

"I understand," said Hoshi. "My university is in a country that doesn't celebrate Thanksgiving, so I have class anyway. Besides, Hurley hasn't been returning my phone calls, so I don't want to drop in there without an invitation. I might just have dinner with some of my American classmates."

"It is not an Azarathian custom, either," Raven said. "But I enjoy experiencing the holidays of my mother's world." Something Hoshi had said made her frown, however. "You have not heard from Hurley? Do you think perhaps he is in the hospital again?"

"I don't think so, but I'm not sure where he is," said Hoshi. "There's no answer when I call him and he was a no-show at Homecoming. The last time I talked to him, though, he was worried that he was bad luck and wanted to keep his distance so his luck didn't affect me. Maybe he's avoiding me?"

"Or avoiding all of us," Raven said unhappily. "I have heard nothing from him, but I will ask if anyone else has."

"And please don't let anyone worry," said Hoshi. "It may be something as silly as his cell phone broke and they don't have replacement parts in his time period."

"Of course," Raven said lightly. "I am sure he is fine." She didn't want to cause Hoshi anymore undue worry about bringing up his fandomhigh email account, which should work even if his phone didn't. Well, as far as she understood it.

"He wouldn't want us to worry, anyway," said Hoshi. "On a lighter note, what the heck is going on with Rumor Gal? This season hasn't been very good so far."

"It has been very strange," Raven agreed. "I had been very excited for Charlie and Claire to reunite, but it seemed they were just teasing us with that. And I have been unhappy to see Little J."

"Well, I have more bad news for you," said Hoshi. "I tried to pick the future seasons of Rumor Gal while I was in the future, but it doesn't seem to exist in my world."

"That does not mean it was canceled, does it?" Raven asked anxiously. The horror!

"It's hard to say," said Hoshi. "Some of the historical records are incomplete. Besides, I'm sure not everyone quit watching like I did."

"I have not," Raven said. She took her Rumor Gal Seriously. "But I have grown weary of some of the characters and their repeated bad decisions. Sometimes it seems that they do not learn from their mistakes."

"Or, more importantly, the writers aren't paying attention to what they've learned from past mistakes," said Hoshi with a sigh. "At least they still have half a season to fix it, right?"

"Perhaps if they got rid of Baby J," Raven said hopefully. "They should send her away forever."

"There's plenty of good reasons to keep her out of Charlie's evil clutches," agreed Hoshi.

"He is not evil!" Raven protested passionately. "He has a good heart beneath the pain he uses to shield himself." Faaaaaaaaaangirl.

"Uh huh. And it was because of his secret pain that he slept with Baby J," said Hoshi, rolling her eyes, not that Raven could see her expression.

"He thought Claire had spurned him and was lost in despair!" Raven said in valiant defense.

"Sure, he was in so much despair that he immediately jumped in bed with his stepsister," said Hoshi, frowning.

"He was not thinking straight," Raven protested. "I do not approve of what he did, however." Because EW.
