Room 509, Wednesday

After Raven had returned everyone to Fandom (and Sam to New York and Anakin to Rory and Juliet), she just wanted to retreat to her room to grieve. She was moving like a zombie, barely speaking, still almost entirely numb to what had happened. Her father had been forced back into his own dimension, but her mother was gone forever now in order to hold him there. She'd never been allowed to mourn for Azar when her teacher had died, and for a fleeting moment she wished it were the same for Arella so she wouldn't feel this awful pain.

Of course she hadn't been allowed to remain alone, though she refused all offers of food or drink with a silent shake of her head. She just sat on the floor, leaning against her bed, her heart aching.


[OOC: for anyone who stayed with her or anyone who comes by later. I'm around for an hour then off to the airport, but I will check in from there (because that's how I roll) and once I get home. Warning: emo girl is emo, but you know that. ;) ]

Joan had definitely not been willing to let Raven stay alone. She tried to give her friend comfort and space at the same time which was difficult to say the least.

"Raven, you really should eat something," she said. "How about I run to town and pick up some muffins from J,GOB?"

"I am not hungry," Raven insisted quietly. The thought of food made her stomach twist even more than it already was.

"I know, but you're going to get sick if you don't eat," Joan said.

"I do not become sick easily," Raven said. That much was true, her ability to heal made most mundane illnesses almost unable to affect her.

Joan sighed a little. "What can I do for you?"

"I do not know," Raven said softly, shaking her head. "I hurt so much...."

Joan scooted closer to give her another hug. "I know. I can't even imagine what you're going through right now."

Raven leaned her head against Joan's shoulder. "I was willing to sacrifice myself," she murmured. "But not anyone else. Not her."

"I know," Joan said, stroking one hand over Raven's hair. "She did it because she loves you."

Joan figured now wasn't the time to mention how some of Raven's friends had sort of harangued her mother.

"I almost wish I did not know how to feel," Raven whispered. "Will it always hurt this much?"

"No, the pain will fade in time," Joan said. "It will never go away completely but it won't always be this raw."

"It is easier when it is someone else's pain," Raven said, wrapping her arms around herself. "I feel it then, but not like this."

Joan nodded. "Would you let someone else take it away, if they could?"

Oooh, not fair.

Raven was quiet for a moment, then nodded. "I think so," she said. "It hurts so much it is hard to think of anything else."
