OOC: Info Post

Raven gets her own post because I have found it's impossible for me to not go on and on and on about my girl. And she has a wee bit of OCD that I never bothered to do before. Also, it makes more work for Tracy, so bonus! ;)
Raven/Rachel Roth/
trigons_child (The New Teen Titans)
Now for the OCD: can Raven read your emotions? Bear in mind that Raven can't usually tell the source of an emotion (that requires more intensive contact, wrapping you in her Soul-Self and tromping through your brain), she can just tell that you're in pain or sad or happy or angry or whatever, even if your body language isn't showing it. Any healing or emotional manipulation would be discussed IC/OOC first.
Raven/Rachel Roth/

- Original info post is here.
- Originally went by the name of Rachel Roth at Fandom; before the Wishverse/Vampverse BDE, a few people knew her true name, and afterward, it became common knowledge. She still answers to both, just to confuse you.
- Is half-human, half-demon, but this is not common knowledge. I think right now the only people who know are: Anakin, Joan, Karla, Dinah, Sam, Illyria, Phoebe, Castiel, Max, Andy, 'Dite, Jono, Kennedy, and Tara, but I could be forgetting someone. It's likely to become more common knowledge at GodCon. NO REASON.
- Her father,
loinclothofevil, has destroyed and conquered thousands of worlds. In his true form Trigon's got red skin, two sets of eyes, gold antlers, and is over 100 feet tall. And wears nothing but a loincloth. It's vaguely terrifying, especially when he's looming over you and you can see right up his...nevermind. He sired children across the galaxy, but only one survived childhood: Raven. He fully intends to claim her and use her to help him destroy Earth.
- Raven's "sole surviving child" badge became invalid when her six brothers were retconned into existence, which she'll find out about some day. She and her six siblings are the embodiments of the Seven Deadly Sins -- Raven is Pride. All this means right now is someone being proud unconsciously attracts her attention, and she likes to take a lot of pride in herself. She doesn't take being embarrassed well.
- She's primarily an empath -- she can feel the emotions of others and absorb them into herself, easing sorrow or anger or even physical pain. The emotions/injuries briefly affect Raven as she takes them into herself (so she wouldn't, for example, be able to do a massive battlefield healing without draining herself), but eventually she can expel them, unless something is very wrong.
- Was raised in Azarath, a place that exists between dimensions, and was trained to keep her emotions in check so that the evil side of her nature would not be unleashed. When she came to Fandom she wasn't used to all the emotions and started to become overwhelmed, but Anakin taught her how to shield herself. Strong emotion can still make her kind of wonky, though, and she's since been convinced that allowing herself to feel her own emotions isn't a bad thing.
- Lives to heal people. Really. YOUR PAIN, GIVE IT TO ME. If you say you're injured in the narrative, she'll be all over you to offer to heal you, and I apologize if your character gets annoyed. :)
- Generally, unless I know the person is shielding, I'll have her pick up on emotions in the narrative. If this is a problem, please let me know! (See OCD below.) She can also sense emotions at a distance (not generally a big one unless it's magically enhanced, but say, behind a door or strong emotion on another floor or outside).
- Can also make other people feel emotions, both positive and negative. She can make someone believe they are in love with her or another, or she can overwhelm them with sadness or fear. She also has some small ability to project illusions into a person's mind. Of course, no emotional/mental power would be used on another player without his or her permission!
- Also has the powers of astral projection (via sending her "soul-self," which takes the form of a large shadowy black raven) and teleportation. She can take people with her when she teleports by wrapping her Soul-Self around them. It's very cold inside her, and pretty trippy, too -- like a vast cosmos filled with stepping stones (that's Tim Drake in there, btw, but that hasn't happened to him yet). Just go with it.
- Currently, there's a giant lizard inside her. Don't ask. She will insist she didn't eat it if you do.
- Can fly, but she doesn't know that yet. I'm waiting for her to get pushed off a cliff or something. ;)
- Is generally wearing a lot of black, though she's had some (dark) color injected into her wardrobe. Unless I say otherwise, assume she's wearing a black cloak as well. She's also always got on two big gold rings, one on each hand, and usually two glowing gold earrings.
- Was raised as a pacifist and to abhor violence, but she's learning to tolerate it better, though she's loathe to fight even in play.
- Also is a vegetarian, and she avoids alcohol because she doesn't want to get drunk and out of control. However, she frequently forgets to ask if a drink is alcoholic.
- Has a small red jewel
crappily photoshoppedin the center of her forehead that helps her control her dark side. - The first sign that she's losing control of said dark side? Her eyes turn red. And then she'll get four of them. This happens sometimes when she gets angry or scared.
- Is a portal to purgatory, heaven, and the nine planes of hell. At least, that's what she's counted so far. No, really. If you have a demon or godly character who needs a portal to come to Fandom, Raven's your girl.
- Has big time vampire issues due to vampire!Max screwing with her in the vamp!verse, and later being bitten by Damon (though everyone thinks Sebastian did it).
- Sebastian? Her "living vampire" groom-to-be, well, if he has his way. She much prefers her boyfriend, Andy!
- Is totally addicted to Rumor Gal.
- Tooooooooooooooootally has a little crush on Anakin and thinks he's the coolest thing since sliced bread.

Date: 2010-05-04 05:00 pm (UTC)Narrative should be more than obvious (if nothing is explicit, Jane is in total control). And of course, Jane can't really shield her emotions entirely, but what Raven would pick up would be quite vague.

Re: Raven can read my emotions...sometimes
Date: 2010-05-04 11:44 pm (UTC)Ino's emotions are going to be muted as compared to what she's physically expressing. She's got shielding up but it's not specific to emotions so I'm going with her shielding hasn't, well, shielded those so much as damped them down a bit.
The only time they wouldn't be damped down would be if Ino is seriously, royally pissed off or in shock so much that her shields aren't up the way they would normally be.
So if Ino is happy, she's going to feel happy but she might sound happier than she feels if that makes any sense at all?

Date: 2010-05-05 02:58 am (UTC)Sophie has no abilities to shield, but keep in mind that she *is* a terrific actress in her Real Life, if not onstage. She may even believe herself when she's Acting something. *g*

Oh, and Phoebe, too, could probably be read by a fellow empath.
